retro silk jacket
Pattern: McCall's 5244
Fabric: black silk dupioni
Construction Notes: This is a fully-lined, cropped jacket which overlaps quite a bit in the front. Weirdly, the collar is assymetrical -- I like the rounded side better, so I close the jacket with that side on top (as seen in the above picture, as opposed to the collar in the pattern illustration).
Miscellaneous Ramblings: I made this to wear over my Christmas dress in 2006 -- the dress itself is sleeveless, and I knew I'd probably need something over it! I'm not sure silk dupioni was the best fabric choice, as it needs to be a little stiffer. However, the jacket looks fine and it served its purpose. (The dress I am wearing underneath is very much like View A on this vintage pattern.)
