Vintage tea towels

These towels, alas, do not hang in my kitchen, but at the museum where my sister-in-law works. I dearly love the embroidery and stripes, though!

Dog blocks

Last Saturday I found a few goodies at a garage sale up the road from our apartment. I don't think this lady had done a thorough clean-out since at least the 1950s! One item I picked up was this 1977 McCall's embroidery transfer book.

There are a lot of cute motifs inside -- one of my favorites being this dog stacking blocks, which quickly went on to a plain white onesie:

Sweet!

Tuesday

I know, it's actually Friday. But...

I finished my third dishtowel! Sunday and Monday are in my sewing gallery.

Carnations aren't exactly my favorite flowers, so I'm looking forward to starting Wednesday -- lilacs!

Baby dress collar

Today I had some time to get started on embroidering the collar for the baby dress I mentioned in this post. I drew up a little design to follow the curve of the collar, but then my transfer pencil didn't work very well. So, I ended up doing it freehand, which means the stitches look a little quirkier than usual. However, what I love about handmade items are those very quirks!

I'm so excited to finish this little dress -- it's going to be adorable, if I do say so myself. :)

Teacup dishtowel

I gave these items to my mom on Mother's Day. The embroidery was inspired by an image on Pattern Bee, though I just drew the pattern myself. My embroidery isn't quite perfect, but I'm just telling myself that it adds to the charm. :)
