'70s skirt

Pattern(s): Simplicity 6522

Fabric: ivory and "greige" herringbone wool

Construction Notes: I used view 2, but I took in some of the fullness of the skirt to make it more A-line. I also omitted the topstitching that the pattern instructions called for, and just understitched the lining. To give a little interest to the skirt, I used some leftover wool from a previous project to make bias strips to highlight the pockets.

Miscellaneous Ramblings: I bought this wool for a song when our local Hancock's went out of business. I would've purchased yards and yards if I could have, but there was only a yard + four inches left on the bolt! So, I squeezed this skirt out of it, using just about every square inch of fabric. It's amazing what a creative layout can do in saving you fabric yardage.

The boots I'm wearing in the picture were my mom's -- she bought them in Germany in 1976. (The pattern date is 1974, and also belonged to my mom.)
